What this page doesn’t show
- What comes next. A bill’s rate is fixed when you buy it, but the next tender may price differently. Ghanaian rates have moved sharply — the 91-day bill paid over 20% in early 2025 and around 5% now — so today’s rate is not a forecast.
- Tax, where the issuer states it. Ecobank state that no taxes are payable on Treasury bills purchased through the TBill4All platform.
- How you open one, where it is published. Treasury bills via Ecobank TBill4All: One-time registration by dialling *770# from an MTN Mobile Money wallet. Ecobank state that no bank account is required. Purchases, rediscounting and statements are all done from the phone; confirmation arrives by text. Ecobank also state that no taxes are payable on Treasury bills bought through the platform.
- How you open the rest. Eleven Ghanaian providers set out what you need to open an account. For any other, ask which documents they need, whether a Ghanaian bank account comes first, and whether you can apply from abroad. See which providers publish what. Anything a provider sends us is published here, cited and dated.
- Tax. Ghanaian withholding on investment income hasn’t been verified, so it’s missing here rather than assumed to be nil. You will keep less than the rate above suggests.
- Getting your money out early. A bill runs to maturity. Selling before then means the secondary market, where the price depends on rates that day — you may get back less than you put in.
